Meet the Team

Our team is small but mighty!

-Katie L. (mom of Shawn)

"As a parent, I felt that it was my job to teach my son all the life skills that he would need to have a successful future, but as a mother of 5 children I just wasn't always able to find the time. I'm thankful that DREAMS can step in to fill that gap. Our DREAMS team member helps Shawn with his laundry, cleaning skills, and cooking skills. They are also working on personal responsibility and how to do non-desirable tasks with the proper attention and attitude. DREAMS hires employees that demonstrate genuine care and integrity. I have never felt unsafe leaving them alone in my home or with my children. They become like part of the family."

-Katie L. (mom of Brad)

"My son Brad had a lot of anxiety when it came to being in new situations and talking to new people. Since starting community integration services with DREAMS, I have seen a huge boost in his confidence level when it comes to ordering food at a restaurant or speaking with a cashier at the grocery store. He also enjoys getting to spend some of his hard earned money by going to the movies or bowling. Recently we were at a restaurant and I needed a different to-go box for some leftover food. I wasn't going to mess with it, but Brad walked right over to the waiter and asked for what I needed. I was blown away. That's not something he could have done a year ago. He's learning appropriate social skills, how to engage in the community, and how to advocate for himself. I'm really impressed with his progress. Thanks, DREAMS!"

Lisa W. (mom of Kaylee)

If Dreams wasn’t in our lives right now I don’t know what kind of shape we would be in. Last year before Dreams started I was doing all the care myself for about 2 months. It was taking a toll on myself (physically, emotionally, and mentally) being a full time caregiver and a parent and working a full time job and everything else I have to do on a daily basis. I was so appreciated when we found Dreams. Dreams was our prayers being answered in a huge way. I don’t know what I would do without you all. When you are a single mom with no real support system, it makes it real hard.

I think the greatest part of this last year is when Kaylee and I got to go to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Nebraska with Becca. I didn’t think we would ever be able to go on vacation again since it has been a few years and there is no way I could do and do all the care that Kaylee needs with bathing, toileting, and transferring all by myself. When Becca was able to go with us and we loaded up the van with the hoyer lift, the commode, and us away and we able to stay in a hotel for a few days and enjoy ourselves that was the best time ever. We also enjoyed when Stephanie set all that up for us all to go to the Kansas City Zoo last year. No one has ever done anything like that before and I thought that was so great. It is something I will never forget and was a great time.

I have noticed that Kaylee is becoming more independent and asking for help both in the home and outside of the home and is speaking to people she doesn’t know how in the community and giving them compliments and speaking to them. These are huge steps for Kaylee because one day I won’t be here and that is bad to think about but is the truth and she needs to learn things that will help her be as independent as she can be for the rest of her life.

We love you Dreams!! Thank you for all that you do. It is appreciated so much more than you probably know!

Miles (dad of Anthony)

My son used to run away regularly. It was beginning to appear like he would have to be relocated to a fully staffed residence. After Dreams started working with him, he has stopped running away and looks forward to their visits. Thank you!

I love being with Dreams LLC. I love it because we go bowling and other activities like Royals baseball games.

Cameo (mom of Kaitlyn)

Over a year ago, we were blessed to find Dreams LLC. My daughter has become more confident and looks forward to her time she gets to spend with them. They take the time and patience to help Kaitlyn with her goals and encourage her to try new things. They have planned several group activities within the community that are always fun and memorable, and the clients look forward to. Thank you so much for your dedication to helping her and your willingness to go the extra mile. I appreciate everything you have done and continue to do for all your clients.

JORDAN CAN COOK!!

So many opportunities have opened up for Jordan. He gets to go out in the community while we are working. He’s learning the value of money by paying for his lunch or movie. He has made friends bowling. He is so much more independent now. He loves his activity calendar. He knows what is coming up so he can be “burning with excitement and anticipation” for every next event.

WE LOVE DREAMS!!
